  • We recommend having a swimsuit, change of clothes, and makeup (only if you are intending to put some on afterwards for the optional lunch that follows).
  • You will need to leave your car in the parking lot (if you are not renting a car, this is where you will be dropped off) and there is a path you walk up to get to the blue lagoon spa area. They will provide you with towels, robes, and flip flops upon arrival.
  • On the walk up the path from the parking lot to the lagoon, we wore sweats/leggings, boots, sweatshirts, and jackets. All of these items can be put back on afterwards for your walk back as well. Main idea is just to be comfortable and warm. The walk is only about 5-7 minutes.
  • There are free lockers available to store your things in, and they also provide blow dryers if you want to dry your hair afterwards.
  • What we didn’t realize is that the water will make your hair feel very “dried out” due to the unique minerals and vitamins in the water, so it’s really important you not only apply a lot of conditioner to your hair before swimming, but LEAVE IT IN. The minerals and vitamins will coat each and every hair making it feel comparable to straw, but keep in mind the water is filled numerous benefits to your body and skin.
  • There are indoor showers in the locker room area where soap and conditioner are provided. You will be required to shower BEFORE going into the Blue Lagoon to help maintain the cleanliness. Showering afterwards is optional.
  • The floors are heated so do not worry about cold feet!
  • We took the 7:30pm flight out of New York and arrived Iceland time around 6am. We went directly from the airport to the Blue Lagoon with our rental car and successfully avoided the large crowds that begin to form around 10-11am. By the time it got extremely busy and crowded, we were heading to lunch (in our robes might we add – and yes, this is highly encouraged and it’s magical).
  • It will get crowded and admission is NOT guaranteed. Booking before your arrival is KEY.

**We purchased the Intermediate spa package (it came with the green band) which included access to the Blue Lagoon, 2 face masks, 2 complimentary drinks of Champagne, and a lunch reservation to follow (where as we stated before, you are encouraged to eat while in your robes!). There is also a cafe with coffee, sandwich and snack options. We felt the Intermediate package covered all the best parts for the full Blue Lagoon experience. We spent on average about 4-5 hours here from the time we arrived, to the time we finished lunch and began heading out to go to our hotel. There is no time limit on how long you are allowed to stay at the Blue Lagoon, so you may stay there for as long as you like.
